Today is a day for me with my head in the clouds. My reasoning for a cloudy head is much less metaphysical and more medical, leaning to cope with a newer med, but this doesn’t mean I can’t still find positive things in the world and write about the metaphysical things I enjoy in life like the tarot.
The Seven of Cups is often depicted as a person literally with their head in the clouds; a dreamer, a visionary, someone who hopes for a better world. The cups depicted are offering the querent a multitude of choices, but cautioning to focus. Aim your eye on the prize and don’t allow your mind to wander. The querent/questioner is at a point where so much is coming at them, their mind is racing and filled with everything they want to do.
The Seven Of Cups upright is advising to slow down. It’s wonderful to dream, but you need to be realistic and put effort into something to make it happen. I’m not talking about wishcraft, which is different from Witchcraft and I will touch on at another time. People are so often in a hurry in our world, and many don’t want to put effort into anything without a guarantee of reward. The dreamer sees the potential reward, but is overwhelmed by the amount of effort put into the project to bring it to fruition.
In reverse the card suggests a person is overwhelmed by life’s circumstances. Escapism is required for the querent to clear their mind and refocus on the project on which the querent is working. The card in reverse, associated with the seven deadly sins, if you look at this from an organized religion stand point. Greed is the big thing with this. This is the Veruca Salt card in a reverse position. She wants it all! Now! Without the effort.
Bearing this in mind, as an individual card it offers advice in clearing your mind. It also has a medical meaning that suggests the querent my be in need of some sort of treatment or medical attention, usually but not always associated with cognitive disorders. As always, the card of the day is a brief overview of a situation. A full reading, or drawing of clarification cards are always needed to make more sense of a situation.
A lot of times the need for an interpreter is the simple fact the querent is too close to a situation and there is a need for an outside perspective.
the Seven of Cups is a positive card, and depending on the artist and the deck it can have a happy positive vibe, but like all things in life, moderation is the key. Curb your dreaming with effort and you increase your chances of success.
